Frequently asked questions
What is rooibos?
Rooibos is an infusion made from the leaves of the Aspalathus linearis shrub, which grows exclusively in the Cederberg region of South Africa. It is not technically a tea (it does not come from Camellia sinensis), but it is brewed and drunk like tea. The most important feature: rooibos is naturally caffeine-free — it can be drunk without restrictions at any time, including in the evening and even by children. It has a mild, slightly sweet taste.
Is Chocolate Relaxation really caffeine-free?
Yes, 100%. Rooibos is naturally caffeine-free — it's not "decaffeinated" tea, but a plant species that simply doesn't produce caffeine. Cocoa shells add a chocolate flavor, but contain trace amounts of caffeine (less than 1mg per cup). You can safely drink this tea before bed.
How to brew rooibos with cocoa?
Water temperature 100°C — rooibos likes boiling water and does not turn bitter even with long brewing times. Use 2-3g per 200ml, brew for 5-7 minutes. The longer it brews, the more sweetness from cocoa and cinnamon aroma. Tastes great with milk or a spoonful of honey. For summer: brew stronger (double dose), cool, add ice.
Is rooibos suitable for children?
Yes. In South Africa, rooibos is traditionally given to children and babies – it’s caffeine-free, gentle on the stomach, and rich in minerals. Our Chocolate Relax with cinnamon and cocoa tastes like a warm dessert, so children love it. It contains no sugar.
How does this rooibos differ from rooibos teas from the store?
Mass-produced rooibos teas from the store are usually ground rooibos in a teabag with artificial "chocolate" flavourings. Our Chocolate Relaxation is loose-leaf rooibos (43%) with real roasted cocoa nibs, freeze-dried raisins, Ceylon cinnamon bark, cardamom, and nutmeg. Natural ingredients, no artificial flavourings — the taste comes from real cocoa and spices, not from a lab.
