Frequently Asked Questions
What is Sencha tea?
Sencha is the most popular Japanese green tea. After harvesting, the leaves are steamed (unlike Chinese green teas, which are pan-fired), which gives them a fresh, grassy, slightly sweet character. Sencha is rich in catechins – powerful antioxidants. In our Jasmine Fantasy, we combine sencha with jasmine buds, strawberry, apple, and mint.
How to brew jasmine green tea?
Water temperature 75-80°C — this is important! Sencha is sensitive to overly hot water — boiling water will bring out bitterness instead of delicate floral notes. Use 2g per 200ml, steep for 2-3 minutes. The first infusion is the most aromatically intense (jasmine), subsequent infusions reveal more of the sencha's own flavor. Do not add sugar or milk.
Does green tea with jasmine contain caffeine?
Yes, a moderate amount - approx. 25-40mg per cup. Green tea also contains L-theanine, an amino acid that mitigates the effects of caffeine and aids concentration without causing nervousness. It can be consumed in the morning and throughout the day. For the evening, we recommend our decaffeinated teas: Chocolate Relaxation or Honey Comfort.
Does this tea taste like jasmine tea from a Chinese restaurant?
Not entirely. Classic Chinese jasmine tea is green tea flavored with jasmine flowers—and nothing else. Our Jasmine Fantasy is an original composition: we've added freeze-dried strawberry, apple, and spearmint to sencha with jasmine buds. The result is more fruity and refreshing than traditional jasmine tea.
Is this tea suitable for cold brewing (cold brew)?
Yes, and it turns out delicious! Pour 500ml of cold water over 3-4g of tea and refrigerate for 4-6 hours. Jasmine and strawberry notes really shine when cold — it's the perfect refreshing tea for summer.
